I can only agree completely, you "hit the nail on the top", so spoken :-)

Hi Lorenz,

Sort of on a related point (to MP3s, digital music, etc.) -- what are your views on iPods? One thought I have, and I suspect you agree, is that their prevalance is yet another reason why mastering is so important; i.e. even those expecting only a 'small' distribution for their tracks may be quite surprised by just how successful their music is / how often it ends up being listened to. What do you think?

Hi Hans,

OGG is indeed a very good format and especially at lower bitrates it delivers better quality than an "un-optimized encoded" MP3. However, the main problem of OGG is that it is not yet wide-spread for internet distribution compared to MP3. The majority of the portable players available today still don´t support this format and until this doesn´t change, my clients still want me to deliver the best sounding MP3´s possible for release of their music on the internet.

Regards,
Lorenz

I know you're talking about MP3s here, but when I listened to OGG encoded stuff, I was very impressed about the quality compared to MP3. Maybe I've got more loss with my "ordinary" encoded 192k MP3 songs then you (I guess so ;) ), so for the noob it is better to choose OGG, isn't it?
